十九之春是最廣為人知的沖繩俗謠
 
「當我戀上你時，正好是我十九歲時的春天
如今你才說要切斷這情緣，那麼請你讓我回到十九歲的當時吧...」

這樣的一首情愛悲歌的背後隱藏著更大的血淚。

昭和五十年左右，當第一次從收音機中聽到由田端義夫先生唱紅，風行全日本的十九之春時，來自奄美大島的朝崎郁惠女士便有一種十分懷念的熟悉感：這個調子跟她小時候聽過，由父親所作的曲子旋律十分接近，只不過不是這個歌詞。

在四處奔走訪問當地老人家之後，終於確定了源頭就是朝崎女士的父親朝崎辰恕所作，原名為「嘉義丸之歌」的曲子，同時也揭開了一段悲劇歷史的過往。

二次大戰期間，由大阪駛往奄美大島的「嘉義丸」(船名)在靠近奄美之處遭美軍魚雷擊中，三百餘人喪生。生還者之一的福田先生當時跟十五歲的長女一起被震入海中，福田先生死命地緊抓住女兒。但等到意識過來時，才發現原來所抱的不是女兒，而是一根浮木，女兒早已遭海吞噬...

倖存的福田先生在奄美大島接受針灸師的辰恕先生治療之時訴說著當時的情景。受過正統音樂教育的辰恕先生大為感傷，便將這段故事寫成「嘉義丸之歌」，以慰死難者之靈。這首以口耳相傳的曲子很快地便從奄美大島流傳開來。然當時政府認為這樣的歌曲不利戰局，因此下令查禁。戰後，由於顧慮到被美軍托管的現實局勢，因此禁令依舊，最終這曲子漸漸被世人淡忘。幾十年過去，這首曲子換了新貌，以「十九之春」的面貌出現在世人面前。

追溯這段過往時發現仍有許多當時餘存的老人家記得這首歌曲，朝崎小姐因此展開一段「還原」之旅。原有十三段詞的「嘉義丸之歌」，目前已至少找出了五段歌詞。

受邀參加「沖縄ソングス」專輯演出「十九之春」一曲的朝崎女士，以懷念父親的聲音，同時悼念受難者的心情來演唱，聽來令人動容不已。巧合的是，這張專輯發行的日子，正是六十一年前「嘉義丸」遭擊沈之日。
